The Ridge is the large open space running alongside Mall Road and is one of the easiest places to start exploring Shimla.
Christ Church, the State Library and Gaiety Theatre are all nearby. On clear days, you also get views of the Himalayan ranges from here. The Ridge is more than a sightseeing stop; it is also one of the main places where people gather, walk and spend time in the city.
Mall Road runs below The Ridge and is one of Shimla’s main shopping and walking areas.
You will find cafés, restaurants, local shops and stores selling woollens, handicrafts and souvenirs here. Scandal Point sits where Mall Road and The Ridge meet, so both areas are easy to cover together.

Christ Church stands on The Ridge and has been part of Shimla since the 19th century.
The church was consecrated in 1857 and is known for its neo-Gothic design and stained-glass windows. Its position on The Ridge also makes it one of the most recognisable buildings in central Shimla.
Jakhoo Temple sits on Jakhoo Hill at around 2,445 metres and overlooks Shimla.
You can walk uphill from The Ridge or use the ropeway. The temple is dedicated to Lord Hanuman and is also popular for the views you get from the top.
Kufri is a short drive from Shimla and is usually added as a day trip.

Chadwick Falls is near Summer Hill and is best visited during or soon after the monsoon when the water flow is stronger.

Tara Devi Temple is located around 11 to 13 km from Shimla, depending on the route.
The temple sits on a hilltop and offers wide views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. You can reach it by road from the Shoghi side, and there is also a walking route from Tara Devi railway station.
Mashobra is around 12 km from Shimla and works well if you want a quieter break from the main city.

Naldehra is around 23 km from Shimla and is known for its golf course and forest surroundings.
